The MCJROTC prgram is composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Most students have heard about the MCJROTC and know what it is but do not know what it means. These letters stand for Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. The students in this elective learn the history of the Marines and how to dress appropriately in uniform. Each Monday morning, ROTC students arrive at school no later than 7:30. At this time, the senior officers perform inspections. The inspections include the cleanliness of the uniform, the proper shine of the shoes, the tuck of the shirt, the regulation of the haircut, and the knowledge of the cadet. Cadets give up their study halls three days a week to head beneath the back gym to be schooled in the military ways. Sometimes the cadets are also required to give up their lunch study hall in order to help out in the armory.
They also take a few weeks out of the year to go to the shooting range to obtain accuracy with rifles. Both Lieutenant Colonel Daly and Master Sergeant Baker teach MCJROTC. Cadets also get a grade every nine weeks based upon tests, inspections, and various other tasks performed throughout the year. All of the students work hard to obtain a good grade and to acheieve the prestigious honor of a promotion.
