In 2005, in an unconventional turn of events, then-seniors Hastings Bransford and Michael Serven pondered the future of a philosophy club here at Catholic High. Their idea of creating the new club was approved, and Hastings and Michael approached two of Catholic High's most philosophical teachers, Mr. Richard Cochran and Mr. Paul Spencer. They both supported the idea, and arrangements were made. Mr. Straessle approved, an an announcement was made concerning the new club. The first meeting included students from every class, enough to leave some students standing near the door in Mr. Cochran's room. And so, on every Thursday at noon, the group gathers to debate universally pressing issues. the group debates philosophies ranging from Pluto to existentialism. The club has no expenses, but one can see that the club will continue to grow over the years, becoming a club for which Catholic High will be known.
