The Catholic High School Driver Education course is offered during the summer break and open to boys and girls from any school. It is designed to equip high school age students with the knowledge and skill that is essential for driving safely on today’s roadways. The course curriculum includes both classroom and hands-on practical driving. The classroom phase is augmented with outside agencies such as paramedics (MEMS), railroad safety personnel (Operation Lifesaver), and other miscellaneous agencies to reinforce the topics presented in class. The driving phase begins with basic maneuvers around cones on the parking lot followed by on-road driving in a wide variety of driving situations. Numerous insurance companies offer premium discounts to students who have passed a course in driver education.
