Academic Support

Dyslexia Program

The Structured Study Hall class with emphasis for those with Dyslexia/Dysgraphia will meet daily for 45 minutes. The class takes the place of a regular study hall period. A small group setting allows for individual assistance and troubleshooting.

The student does not have to be diagnosed with dyslexia and/or dysgraphia before entering the program.

Class focus is on the structure of the English language, study skills, assistive technology training, self-advocacy, and learning about the unique strength pattern for those with dyslexia.

The class balances teaching of the above concepts with some time devoted to active study of content material.  Screenings provide for further support if a student requires individualized reading tutoring, speech therapy services, or English as a second language acquisition.

Priority enrollment is given to students with greatest academic need.  A $375 fee is assessed per semester.
