Going Merry Scholarship Search

“College is a match to be made, not a prize to be won.”

This philosophy lies at the heart of the college counseling office at Catholic High School.  Finding the right fit for each student is the central goal for Fred Baker, the director of college counseling.

Mr. Baker brings a background of over fifteen years of college admission work to Catholic High.  Having served as the director of admission at a top-tier liberal arts college, and with professional involvement on the national, regional, and state level, he understands first-hand what colleges and universities are looking for.

College counseling begins the moment a student enters Catholic High.  Mr. Baker meets with each class several times each year, hosts programs aimed at preparing students for the college admission process, and meets individually with every student numerous times.  Understanding each student and his unique strengths and qualities is the most important element of college guidance.  Allowing students to understand the incredible number of options and opportunities open to them is an equally essential part of Mr. Baker’s work.

Catholic High hosts dozens of colleges and universities each year, allowing students to interact with admission professionals and learn more about prospective schools.  Additionally, students have access to a fall college fair event attended by more than one hundred different institutions.  Our graduates attend a tremendously diverse array of colleges, reflective of the abilities, passions, and interests of our talented and distinctive students.
