Monsignor Lawrence Frederick ’55, known as Father Fred, was assigned by the Bishop to Catholic High School in June 1966. He earned his Bachelor of Science from St. Louis University in Aeronautical Engineering and his Masters in Science from the University of Arkansas in Mathematics. He worked two years as an engineer before entering the Seminary. In June 1966, the Bishop assigned him to Catholic High School. He taught physical science, physics, algebra I and religion. In addition to teaching at Catholic High, the Bishop assigned him to Mount St. Mary Academy in May 1992, to teach Religion. After teaching religion for nine years he is now teaching physics and is on his 19th year.
He has served as assistant pastor, associate pastor, parish administrator, chaplain for the Carmelite Monastery, and hospital chaplain for the VA hospital in Little Rock. Bishop Sartain named him Rector of Catholic High School in 2001, after Father Tribou’s death. Father served as chaplain for both schools until 2018, when the Bishop appointed chaplains to the schools. Father Fred still serves in the capacity as chaplain for the VA, the Carmelite Monastery, and Mount St. Mary Academy.
